Yes, the Oregon coast is breathtakingly beautiful. I moved here from Tennessee 12 years ago to be of assistance to my aging parents (now both deceased). And, yes, Oregon is a blue state with progressive and humanistic laws.

But, the entire coast has only one democrat state representative. There are a lot of arch conservatives and ultra Christians here, lots of pickups flying American flags and displaying NRA stickers. Armed right wing militias have been known to put up road blocks on rural roads looking for Black Lives Matter and rainbow stickers.

The weather is radically unpredictable, bone chillingly damp, and quite gloomy for weeks at a time. And, I don’t think there’s any coastal town that is within an hour’s drive of the Moda Center… then again, the Blazers are hardly worth seeing since Dame Lillard departed for the Bucks. I understand how enamored you are of the Oregon Coast and you are very welcome here. However, I’d hate to see you disillusioned because of your Pollyanna idea of what you’ll find when you get here.
