Yes, even polka-dotted and paisley assholes, too. 😉

Perhaps you misinterpreted my comment. I’m not laying blame… however, a group of Netflix employees walked out in protest (which, admittedly, was a strong statement) but has only motivated subscribers to cancel (including my sister in law) which, as you rightly say, doesn’t directly hurt Chappelle. Still, those protesters hope the network (and every other media distributor) will be more reticent to work with him in the future. And, losing subscribers might do the trick.

In fact, it’s my fear (my FEAR, not my contention or prediction) that anti-trans assholes will feel more emboldened because they think Chappelle has joined ranks with Rogan and Tucker Carlson and their hateful ilk. He clearly hasn’t aligned himself with any ideology but his own. It’s pretty much the same thing as MeToo lumping Al Franken in with Harvey Weinstein. Al Franken did an unfunny thing. Weinstein raped. Little equivalence there, I hope you’ll agree.

Perhaps you and others think Chappelle’s jokes are not woke enough for today. That’s certainly your prerogative. But, isn’t the furor more than a little out of proportion? I still don’t hear anything in The Closer that encourages anti-trans violence. And, the more attention focused on vilifying Dave Chappelle turns him into a martyr in the eyes of the haters. That’s not just harmful for one comedian, who has no affinity with hatred or those who trumpet it, I worry that it could potentially be harmful to the trans cause and even every trans person. Peace.
