While these tweets are somewhat clever, they are definitely insensitive... or "edgy" if you put them in context aside Chris Rock, Dave Chappell, Doug Stanhope, Daniel Tosh, Anthony Jeselnik, etc.
One thing I see reflected in those tweets is a total lack of awareness of white privilege. But, a lot of us white, male, cisgender queers suffered from that same syndrome back in 2010... when we naively assumed that, because we had a black president, we'd conquered systemic racism.
But, as Sarah Silverman says, "Comedy isn't evergreen." She once wore blackface on her TV show, as did her ex-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel, on his.
Randy Rainbow is brilliant (both visually and musically.) He consistently finds humor in some of the most dismal events and personalities of our time and offers a badly needed fresh breath of perfectly toned snark. He's become aware of his insensitivity. He's apologized for it (as have Sarah and Jimmy... Chappell? Not so much.) so I'm willing to give him a second chance.
