While I disagree that The Carpenters and Glen Campbell's versions were inferior to Stewart's, which I still think is outstanding — the man has long been underrated as an interpreter of song; the clownish drag-queen image mentioned here probably has something to do with that — the definitive and best version remains the original by the song's composer. I love Karen's voice... but she could never match the pathos in Hardin's rendering. And, "Reason to Believe" is, after all, a genuine expression of desperate, vulnerable broken heartedness. Peace.
