To be clear... There was no "promise" to frack, Logan. Understanding that fracking is favored by the majority in Pennsylvania (which is where the debate took place) the Harris campaign knows it would be self-destructive to continue to call for the total banning of fracking (which she had done during the primary debates in 2020.) Basically, to continue to call for such a ban would insure her defeat in a critical swing state.

There is a distinct difference between a promise to do something and strategically taking a less strident position. It's politics over principle, a game every candidate unfortunately has to engage in to get themselves elected. It does her no good to stand for a principle if it guarantees her defeat.

I am 100% opposed to fracking. And, I love pristine beaches, too. But, your North Carolina beaches would be under much greater, immediate threat under a Trump administration. So, I think we'd be better off understanding the political context here and concentrate on getting Harris and Walz elected.
