To be accurate, today's so-called "conservatism" is less about the real status quo and more about returning to some fictional, nostalgic ideal status quo that never really happened (at least, not exactly the way conservatives remember it).
Too, while punk has always been anti-establishment, a lot of self-defined punks were (and/or are) racist and fascistic which, in the late 70s, when punk was born, was in protest against immigration and multiculturalism. Through that lens, punk is actually pretty conservative or at least anti-progressive at its core. Associating punk with Terf is a stretch, for sure. But, in some ways, sans nihilism and safety pins, that comparison actually makes some sense.
