This is a relatively irrelevant music celeb desperately trying to get attention. Yes, this might result in more empathetic people in whatever circle Kid Rock appeals to. But, as we've seen so many times, it only takes one crazy hater to load up their weapon and take an example like this to a more tragic level... in a less symbolic and far bloodier way.
