The omission here is the very real and threatening rise in quasi-Christian theocratic thinking. The constitutionally mandated separation of church and state is in severe jeopardy.

Interesting that you refer to a pendulum swinging to the extreme right, because pendulums always swing back… fact is, the right-left political spectrum in the US has moved so far right that today, Reagan would be considered a RINO centrist, and Eisenhower and Nixon would be branded as socialists.

So, this begs the question whether the pendulum has come loose in its rightward swing as to never swing back to the left again. To this old white man, that seems the premise here. Peace.
