Thanks to Trump, the word evangelical has become secularized (politicized) as to represent less a way of expressing faith and more a set of anti-woke biases.
Many self-described conservatives identify as evangelical, even though they don't attend church, and haven't made the commitment to bringing others to Jesus (which, if I'm interpreting what evangelical means correctly, is the fundamental purpose and responsibility of evangelism).
Once again, culture has appropriated a word that once stood for one thing and now has been twisted into implying something else altogether.
That evangelical leaders have supported such a perverse re-definition of their "faith" should turn off a lot of their flock... and, if what you're saying is true, I'd say it's about time. And, I'm thrilled about it.
