Thanks for your response to my comment, Robert. Your premise is interesting and I understand the logic. The proprietor is defining gender according to genitalia. The trans woman is identifying as female, genitalia notwithstanding. If that were the whole argument, they could (and should) agree to disagree civilly and respectfully. But, I think you’re giving the proprietor far too much credit.

In my opinion (and, it’s just that… an opinion) it is bigoted to deny any person the right to identify with whatever gender they genuinely feel they belong to. What would the proprietor say about an intersex person who was born with XXY, XYY chromosomes? Or one who has XY chromosomes and identifies male, yet was born with a vagina, or XX chromosomes and identifies female, yet has testes?

Bottom line, claiming that gender and/or gender identity is purely binary is ignorant. Then again, bigots are very skilled at denying and/or cherry picking science and scripture, so what else is new?
