So true. And, there is nothing at all wrong with our natural, human need to belong and connect with others. The failing of the church—through the millennia—as Dan points out, is that acceptance is predicated on adhering to dogma... which means that it's not actually acceptance. Have an independent belief, express an independent thought and one risks being condemned, marginalized, and/or ostracized. So much for belonging.
