Since when did the powerful and the ignorant become separate from one another?

This potential doomsday scenario (which could take place within a couple of generations) conjurs up the ridiculous, arrogant alarm that "We have to save the planet."

While humans are doing an extremely efficient job of altering certain characteristics of the environment, Planet Earth will always be capable of healing herself, once we've rendered her inhabitable for our progeny.

Thinking we can "save the planet" is pure hubris. The real question is, "Do we have the will and wherewithal to keep this unique paradise in space fit for human life?"
