Sorry. Instead of the more diplomatic “blithe,” I should have used a more direct and accurate word. How about “careless?”
War is violent. War is fought with guns and bullets and bombs. Property is blown to hell. People bleed and die.
The threat you describe is real. Once again, please note: I agree with what you see coming.
But, in my opinion, by using the word war in this context, you trivialize the English language and the tragic seriousness of real war. And, incidentally, you’ve also bought into the playbook of the very people you criticize… the people who spout such absurdities as “liberals and progressives are waging war on Christmas.” Words matter. Peace.
