Regardless of the implied permission to attack a suspected trans person, if anybody physically assaults any other person at all, they should be arrested and charged… in the Capitol bathrooms or at a highway rest stop in Idaho.

Nancy Mace’s proposed congressional bathroom policy is ridiculous grandstanding. Amazing that opportunistic bigots fail to realize how the hysteria they whip up to draw attention to themselves results in people getting seriously hurt, even killed. Still, assault is assault. Mace and Johnson’s Capitol Hill proposed bathroom policies don’t change that.

Until they are capable of legally catagorizing trans folk as something less than or other than human, those who perpetrate violence against them are committing a crime. Speaking of “less than human,” they couldn’t get away with beating a dog either. Just saying!
