Interesting that you never see a trans woman with closely cropped hair or a shaved head... that long hair is still considered "feminine" in the traditional sense. Drag queens have long perpetuated feminine stereotypes. And, in order to pass, you are, too.

To me, as a queer, cis-gender man, with several trans friends and a trans nephew, it's less about hair length than it is about the walk. It's body language, muscle memory. Harper in the film lumbers like a man, which is a dead giveaway.

Then again, she is forthright about her transition and doesn't seem to be all that concerned with "passing" at this point. In fact, she seems far more concerned about whether she will be accepted by those who are aware that she's trans and whether she feels comfortable and safe in their world than she is about putting on a convincing performance as a woman.

Maybe hair extensions are more about self-acceptance than they are about passing. Regardless, I wish you all the peace you deserve. You are courageous... and your courage shows how truly beautiful you are.
