I’m going to give the author the benefit of the doubt here. Surely, when she refers to “the LGBTQ lifestyle” she is imagining looking through the skewed lens of a judgmental Christian homophobe and not revealing her own lack of understanding.

To be clear, being queer or trans are essential to the person’s identity. LGBTQ+ is NOT a “lifestyle.”
