I was an Episcopalian altar/choir boy in a grand cathedral. Eventually, I became disillusioned with the ritual and tired of the call and response I had loved in my youth. Although the Episcopal church split over its own internal debate over same-sex marriage, the Episcopalians I know are far more accepting of queer and trans folk (and other marginalized communities) than the evangelicals or the fundamentalist sects.
