I lived in Davidson County for 16 years. It was always amusing to observe how the Tennessee legislature used its time, debating issues that only affected a tiny proportion of the state's population, at the expense of everyone else. Famously, that year when they spent the entire session on a bill to allow folks to pack firearms into bars. Bredeson vetoed it. Then the clowns went back to work, debating it all over again and ultimately overriding the governor's veto, only to see a precipitous decline in tourist bucks because Europeans were frightened to come to a place where citizens carried guns while getting shitfaced. Oh, I could go on and on!
