I always wondered about Crosby and Bowie agreeing to appear together in such a strange pairing. Finding out that Bowie only did the show to please his mother explains a lot. Not sure what you mean by "inappropriate." But, Bing's abusiveness to his children has been public knowledge since the publication of Gary's memoir. Only one sister from Crosby's second marriage disputes Gary's recollections. Two of Gary's three brothers from Crosby's first marriage died from suicide.

Interesting side note: Bing was often suspected of being gay, because of his on-screen persona with Bob Hope and his soft, crooning voice. Crosby (who was, like Hope, a notorious womanizer) said the foppish character he played in the "Road" pictures was only for laughs.
