I also consider myself a disciple. But, not of Jesus the Christ... of Jesus, the prophet, the human man. So, I am not a Christian, although I am a Unitarian.

One of my favorite writers on this subject is John Pavlovitz, whose latest book If God is Love, Don't Be a Jerk just arrived this morning. As I'm sure you know, John was a pastor in an evangelical megachurch, became disillusioned with the hypocrisy, which he writes about in the brilliant blog Stuff That Needs to Be Said. I support John through Patreon (BTW, he just had a tumor removed from his brain stem and, as of this writing, is recovering in ICU.)

While I don't feel qualified to judge who is or isn't a genuine Christian, I'm pretty sure I know one when I see one... and, like John Pavlovitz and my brother Jayson, I recognize you. Peace.
