For a moment there, I thought I’d caught the writing coach abusing the mother tongue. Years ago, I was told by a Jewish editor that I had misused the word kibitz. Technically, I had, as I had used the verb as a substitute for a character observing, silently, without making unwelcome comments or remarks. Now, I learn that it’s also appropriate in the context of a performer bantering with audience members. Who knew? Still learning about the language I’ve spoken and written in for 7 decades. Wow!
