Excellent piece, Dan. Admittedly, I do struggle to have compassion, or even empathy, for the "Haggards" of the world. "Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do." No. They know exactly what they're doing. And the God they purport to believe in must know, too. It's a century's old quandary. That's for sure.

Somewhat surprised that Larry Craig didn't make the Hall of Shame, the long-serving, vocal anti-LGBTQ Idaho Senator, who was arrested in an airport men's room for soliciting and exposing himself to an underground police officer.
