Exactly. I used to assume that Pride was just about leather jock straps, nipple rings and outrageous drag queens… until, for the first time, at the age of 72, I joined my first Pride Parade and experienced the joy of being acknowledged by my peers and allies as part of a colorful, loving community. Pride is not just a party or a chance to be queer or trans out loud. It’s a declaration of dignity, of our mutual right to exist and thrive as who we are.
