Claiming to take “spiritual” offense is a blatant admission of a total lack of spirituality, and demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of what it means to have a spiritual experience. Karl Jung once said something to the effect of … “Religion is an excuse for not having a religious experience.”

Adhering to dogma automatically discredits a person’s claim of spirituality, which requires an acceptance of mystery and the humility to accept that there are innumerable things we humans are incapable of comprehending.
