At the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in the summer of 1968, the director of Hamlet took note of my pretty face and decided to go the historically authentic route by casting me as the Player Queen in the play within the play. As I often say, I made my Shakespearean debut in drag. Perhaps that portended my easy segue into becoming an androgynous glam rocker.
