Perhaps a first step in a civil discussion about equity is coming to an agreement as to the definition of equal opportunity. Certainly, everyone, regardless of political stripe must concur that a race is not the least bit fair if every competitor doesn’t begin at the same starting line. From there, talent and effort could be the determining factors as to what order everyone crosses the finish line.
