As a cis bi man, I have experienced erasure from both straights and gays. And I have also succumbed to the pressure to be or act as whatever/whoever someone else wants me to be. In my younger years, that led to allowing myself to be used and exploited by older, more powerful men. Not particularly good for one’s self esteem.

I’ve often wished I were either-or. So much simpler and easier for folks to think in tidy categories. People assume we get to have it all… cake and eat it, too. In fact, it can be very lonely being bi in that we don’t fit into a single box.
