A very interesting and rather snarky definition that comes from a very, very particular perspective. I'd say that a 97% chance of being correct makes it better than a "best guess." If I were a pediatrician, I would probably take offense.
Perhaps "presumption" would be more respectful of the medical profession. You expect and demand respect, after all. Don't baby docs deserve equal consideration for their education, expertise, and on-the-job experience? As a father of three and a grandfather of three, I am deeply appreciative of pediatric medicine and the individuals who practice it. Just sayin'.
